NEW: His first cria is SPECIAL. Density, fineness and “that look”…we cannot wait to watch him grow! Two different AOA judges have commented that he is one to watch and has serious potential. BREAKING NEWS! Vintage was Reserve National Champion Grade 1 in the 2023 IFA show! His scorecard demonstrates his excellent uniformity, staple length and beautiful production traits. We are incredibly proud of him! Unfortunately he has suffered an injury that will keep him out of the halter and performance rings but should not interfere with breeding ability. Vintage was offered as one of several young males to choose from as Lot 53 at the inaugural Education with a Destination auction. Senior judge and breeder Amanda V had assembled a little group of males from her private herd that the winning bidder could pick from. I actually wasn’t there to buy anything; I had come just for the fun and education, and to let Gavin present some of the finest alpacas in the US at the sale. I kept returning to the pen to look at this one particular fleece on display; it was beautiful. One particular alpaca in the pen kept catching my eye; he was wearing a red collar. When I learned that fleece I liked belonged to that male in the red collar, I realized this guy could help put us on the map and get our breeding program started. When I won the bidding, Gavin, who was presenting that young male, jumped up and down on the stage in excitement. I had told him he had to contain himself while on stage, but he just couldn’t help it, to the amusement of everyone watching. He threw the lead at someone backstage and ran to me, hugged me, then yelled, “Dad is going to be so mad!” which made everyone laugh. It was worth every penny to see his face. Everyone was so excited for us! Gavin and senior AOA judge Cheryl Gehly went through the pen, and that young male in the red collar was their top choice from the lot. And he’s wonderful to handle to boot! That kind, long stapling, bright white, uniform fleece fits his sweet, gentle and inquisitive personality. It’s all stacked onto a strong frame with a perfect bite and plenty of bone, topped with literally the cutest ears ever. He is so sweet and fits right into our herd. I love everything about this young male, and I am looking forward to breeding him in the future. He captured a third in a deep class at 2023 MAPACA, placing there due to a difference in micron as compared to the first two. Book now for a special price!

When I was studying animal science prior to veterinary school many, many years ago, I was taught to always start with the best females you can find and afford, use the best males you can afford, and to breed like to like, as well as to use all scientific data you can, such as EPDs. When I decided to move into breeding from just keeping fiber boys, I took that advice to heart and started searching through resources for the best females I could find, with hopes that I could find a way to pay for that level of excellence. I never expected to find this quality at a price I could afford. We are absolutely THRILLED to welcome this gorgeous girl to our farm as our top foundation female!! THANK YOU to the amazing Leslie Oliver of Limestone Creek for allowing us to start with this beauty. Sporting top 1% EPDs for 2022, this young lady moved to our farm after the 2023 Jamboree show, where she garnered some very flattering comments from the judges. At MAPACA, Nick Harrington had a number of compliments for her, placing her third to the eventual color champion and reserve, both of which won top honors at a national level. Her famous sire is now on the west coast, so I’m particularly glad to have been able to purchase her, as there won’t be many more here in the east. Love delivered TWINS ( x FDA Bold Ruler’s Somethingroyal) on May 14, 2024. She is a fabulous mother, taking both twins back after they needed ICU level care for 2.5 days and 10 days respectively. She is an attentive mother with plenty of milk. She has produced a spectacular white male June 2025 when crossed with FDA Rembrandt’s Vintage Charm. Love’s 2023 fleece finished third in Grade 2 competition at the National Fleece Show Innovative Fleece Assessment; her fleece was first over the table, and I’m told the judge was very hard on skirting for the first fleeces, costing her several points but educating me on a few things! She also did well in the 2023 CALPACA IFA show, winning first place in the Grade 2 white class. Her 2024 fleece did very well at the 2024 IFA national show, but she capped 2024 off by winning Judge’s Choice, Best Crimp and Best Hand at the Big E Fleece Show (non-AOA) scoring an 80 under judge Laurel Shouvlin. This girl will never be sold. She has earned her right to stay here forever.

Description

This kid was born while I was at work, and when my son Colton sent me his photo, I knew this was one special cria. That was confirmed when I sent photos to some of my judge friends, who all had very complimentary comments about him. A big cria at 17.3lb, he has more than doubled his birth weight at 30 days, thanks to his fantastic mother (who is raising her third cria in 2 years #twinmom). He looks like his father and his famous grandfather, with strong bone and a dense, uniform fleece. I am really looking forward to getting this one in the ring next spring.
