We are sad to announce that Daytona passed away this past winter (2023) of unknown causes. His information will continue to be displayed for reference. Daytona's cria have proven just how capable Daytona is at producing black with such a variety of dam colors. We are thrilled with his offspring. They are dense, silky, crimpy, extremely well put together conformationally, and have such lovely presence. In 2016, Daytona produced 5 black, 1 dark grey, and 1 brown cria. Dams ranged in color from black to beige, but most were fawn and brown. Daytona exceeded our expectations. Histograms are showing that Daytona offspring are following in his footsteps - first year results as fine as 15, but averaging 17.5 microns. Excellent uniformity and comfort factor as well with vast improvements in density. The incredibly handsome Crescent Moon's Daytona joined our herd in north central Idaho in 2015. His fiber stats prove that he is holding his uniformity, fineness, and density with a fleece weight of over 5 lbs for his blanket, and 10 lbs overall. He also exhibits wonderful brightness as commented on by the judges. It is inspiring to see these characteristics in true black along with undeniably outstanding conformation. Daytona has acquired an impressive show record: 1st at The Futurity, Color Champion at GWAS, and much more. Daytona excels in many aspects, but what jumps out is his uniformity. When you look at his fleece, you notice (besides his impressive density, brightness, and fineness) that something is missing - guard hair. Daytona's fleece is like glass - absolutely uniform well across the blanket in color (no spots!), silky fineness, crimp, length, density, and lack of guard hair...all the way down the belly! You can see that uniformity in his histograms too with low standard deviation and %>30, even on his adult fleeces. Put that on top of a well-balanced frame and 'look-at-me' presence, and oh boy. Daytona is a product of 3 esteemed breeding programs coming together - Flying Dutchman Alpacas on his sire's side (sire: Skywalker by Poseidon of FDA), Fir Cove Alpacas on his dam's (dam: Fir Cove Bonita), and Crescent Moon bringing it all together with their stamp of approval. Take a look at the plethora of Accoyo bloodlines - PCA Accoyo El Nino, Caligula's Accoyo Poseidon - and well-known color producers such as PPeruvian Victor. EPDs - top 10% in AFD & SDAFD, top 15% in SF, top 25% in 3 other categories! A beautiful long, fine, and uniform fleece, with excellent density. Correct conformation, strong bone substance, a lovely head. Depth in color genetics and well-established champion bloodlines. Son, Daytona's Nocino, a black national COLOR CHAMPION at the 2019 AOA National Fleece Show! Other offspring include AHarmony's Ponderosa, a beautiful model-like light brown female out of AHarmony's Espiritu de Tequila. Ponderosa now has a beautiful daughter out of Crescent Moon's Daytona, making Juliaetta a granddam. Juliaetta's 2020 cria, Ukelele, is another gorgeous dark fawn daughter out of Daytona who is quite picturesque as well. Her fleece is doing well in shows with such a buttery handle and amazing density.

Description

Nocino's first cria is here and he is a handsome little guy! Much darker than his dam - true black! A fantastic head and quite healthy. His second cria is also darker than her dam with incredible density and such vigor. Daytona's Nocino is a junior herdsire with an "Advanced Fleece". He has won top awards, including black male Color Champion at the 2019 AOA National Fleece Show and Judge's Choice from the AAWO Spin-Off. Nocino produces truly amazing fleeces each year (over 6 lbs of blanket!). The density with across blanket uniformity is above and beyond. Nocino's sire, multi-champion Crescent Moon's Daytona, consistently produced a high percentage of black offspring along with other beautiful colors like maroon and grey. He passed his incredible density and uniformity to offspring along with a well-balanced conformation. Plus he and his offspring are holding their fineness year after year. Nocino's dam, AHarmony's Juliaetta, is a top ribbon winner with her fleece as well, with a fineness of 19.2 microns at 4 years of age and only 1.4% over 30. She has wonderful bone substance and a stunningly beautiful head. Her genetics hold depth in fineness (Rico Suave and Victor), and strong color including black and grey. She is producing truly advanced offspring.
