Spirit is the product of appaloosas and harlequins from both sides of his family tree. His sire, Windspun WSA Patriotic Gentleman, is an appaloosa as well. He's a blue-ribbon winning male that sports a beautiful fleece and strong confirmation. Patriotic Gentleman's sire is the multi-champion Hobby Horse Farm Great Expecations making his grandsire the well-known SA Peruvian Black Epic. Spirit's dam, Excelsior's High Voltage Tazer, has an equally impressive background. She's the harlequin daughter of a very well-known appaloosa - NWA/Hearsum Paulo. Her dam is actually the full sister to our herdsire Mr. Butterscotch, a beautiful appaloosa harlequin named Candlelight's Cookies and Cream. Both Butterscotch and Cookie are My Peruvian Zephyus offspring. Spirit's show career started as a mature male; however, that didn't stop him from beating out the competition. Judges commented on his extreme density and the amount of fleece packed onto his frame. They also appreciated his fleece's brightness and the handle he had maintained for his age. His macho appearance and confidence in the show ring also stood out. Spirit has proven to pass on his phenomenal fleece qualities to his offspring. Ginny is truly a phenomenal female - both by her own traits and by her ability to produce exceptional offspring. She's a champion girl and produce of dam winner. Her frame is solid with well-developed bone (especially for a female). We love her head style and the way her fleece is maintaining itself through her production years. Her sire, Snowmass Best in Velvet, is a multi-judge's choice, multi-champion, and Get of Sire winner.
