Our first ever alpaca to reach vicuna fine fleece at 13.9 microns with intense curvature at 64.6, making profound impressions in the huacaya breeding programs in his first breeding years, and will continue for many more years to come, he is the TRUE definition of the ideal huacaya. His fleece has been described numerous times by international judges as the most highly developed fleece they have ever seen. Val D Lsere and his successes make him one of the most successful alpacas in US history and judges have said he is the best they have seen. He has a very bright, extraordinarily dense, fine fleece with a merino-type crimp style. Val is a very compact male with a very strong heavy bone structure. All of these traits are being seen in his offspring. He rapidly rose to a legendary level and is, without a doubt, one of the most significant alpacas ever to be born at Red Granite Ranch and possibly in the US, and is one of the most highly decorated alpacas in the world. Val D Lsere is truly revolutionary for the next generation of Huacaya fleeces and genetics. He has produced colors all across the spectrum, including rose and silver-grey. At just shy of 9 months old PASCAL was labeled a “keeper” due to his extreme traits - that statement has certainly stayed true as he has matured! An upstanding Futurity & National Champion Herdsire with a lineage packed to the brim of outstanding genetics of COLOR! He is one of those males that you get excited about, and rightly so. It is with males like this that the long time of gestation for an alpaca is almost unbearable! Red Granites Pascal comes from two high-end breeding lines meshed into one pedigree. His three-time supreme champion sire, Red Granites Val D Lsere - who is arguably the best son of Snowmass Mr Sizlin Rose, the 2016 Futurity Herdsire of the Year winner in the Large Breeder Division. His dam, Mountain Sky’s Secret Passion a direct daughter of Wolf Den’s Dark Secret. Daughters of Dark Secret are rare to acquire due to the high interest in them and the keeping of genetic lines by their owners, we were lucky when Secret Passion was offered for sale at auction. Secret Passion has given us beautiful progeny each season, all of which have won at least one championship, two of which have won Judges' Choice awards, a true testament to her quality! For those who do not know, Dark Secret is the sire of AutumnSun’s Black Maelstrom, a 13-time Black Champion sire who is highly sought after. Pascal is the first cross of these genetics and he is everything one would hope for! The fleece characteristics are all that one could hope for from his famous ancestors. It displays his sire’s legendary brightness, is fine, has incredible density, is uniform in color and micron, and exhibits an exceptional length of staple. He has a well-defined high-frequency crimp style, which is carried down the length of his staples and is consistent throughout his blanket, extending right into the extremities. These amazing fleece qualities have stayed with him as he has aged. To add, he stands on extremely strong bones with great front and rear capacity. He has the ideal huacaya head all breeders strive for with full coverage and a short & wide muzzle. Red Granites Pascal has won a multitude of championships (21 in total), which he won in halter, fleece, and walking fleece shows! He has won championships at two of the most prestigious shows in the country: The Futurity & National Show. At the 2024 RailSplitter Alpaca Show, he was awarded the Judges' Choice Male award under Wade Gease, extremely impressive for a black male as very few black males hold this honor! Judges commend him on his uniformity of micron & fineness that is carried into his extremities and extremely macho look and attitude!
