Dr. Jeri Booher writes: Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Apocalypse is a true treasure, which was evident from the day that he hit the ground in 2002. He comes from a line of first place winners at the AOBA National Show. Both of his older siblings have taken home the blue ribbon from AOBA as did Apocalypse at the 2003 National Show. In 2004, his younger brother began his show career by taking first place at the 2004 AWE Regional Show with Julio Sumar giving him a score of 50 out of 50 points for his fleece. At the same show, Apocalypse took a first place in the Beige yearling male class, then a Reserve Championship in the Light Male category. This win gave him back- to-back first place awards at the same show in 2003 and 2004. In 2005, Apocalypse repeated his winning ways at two shows that he entered, with two first places in the mature light male category and a Light Championship and Reserve Light Championship. All of Apocalypse's sister and brothers (Americano, Argonaut, Aristocrat, Mele, Ambassador) have won multiple firsts and championships throughout the years. Apocalypse was the heaviest shearing yearling male on the ranch in 2004. In a period covering an 11-month growth interval from age nine months to twenty months, his total fleece weight was ten pounds with an average micron count of 17. Upon shearing him in 2003, our shearer dubbed him "Mr Merino" for his amazing fleece. At age six, his total fleece weight was 14.2 pounds. Apocalypse‘s fleece characteristics still holds after many, many shearings. We retired him from the show ring after 2005 as he was too valuable an asset for the future of our breeding program to continue to take him on the road. As has always been said, “The proof is in the progeny”, and his outstanding offspring have done extraordinarily well in the show ring. The first year of showing his offspring was in 2007. At Level V AWE, three of the five offspring shown won three first places, and one Reserve Championship. In 2008, also at the AWE show, five of seven offspring shown won first places, then two Reserve Championships. A month later, at Level IV CABA, five of five shown won first places, then two Championships (Grey and White) and one Reserve Championship (Brown). He also took a second place in the Get of Sire at this show (second to El Nino whose Get was comprised of three white progeny, while the Apocalypse Get had one white, one beige and one rose grey). In 2009, a medium fawn Apocalypse son, Apocalypse’s Hemiaccoyo Coppertop, won Judges’ Choice in halter. Apocalypse has proven himself as the male that has surpassed both his sire and grandsire in his production of show winning progeny and the quality of fleece on those progeny. Two Apocalypse sons, Coppertop and Sensei, are currently foundation sires at TIMBERLAND.

Description

Dr. Jeri Booher writes: Apocalypse’s Hemiaccoyo Humvee II is a third generation offspring from the breeding program of Timberland Alpacas. Humvee II is the latest male to join the Timberland Alpacas stable of herd sires and his first crias are due this 2015 season. Humvee II carries an impressive pedigree, with multiple championship lineages from sire, Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Apocalypse and dam, Hemingway’s Hemiaccoyo Hannah. Both parents are champions in their own right. Apocalypse has been one of Timberland’s most prepotent herd sires, producing many champion offspring, including medium fawn Judge’s Choice winner and multiple champion, Apocalypse’s Hemiaccoyo Coppertop. Humvee II is the splitting image of his sire Apocalypse, and standing side by side in the same pasture, the son is identical to the father. Humvee II’s show record is impressive. He has won Champions and Reserve Champions in both halter and fleece along with many first places. Even after retirement from the show ring, Humvee II has continued to excel in Fleece Show competition, winning repeatedly in all age categories, from Juvenile “A”, Yearling “B”, Two Yr. Old “C” and Adult “D”. In every age category, his scores for fineness/handle have never been lower than 19 out of 20 points, with two 19.5 and one perfect 20! In 2015, Humvee’s fifth shearing yielded more awards – CABA Classic 2015 First Place Light, Light Reserve Champion, and Spirit of the Fiber Industry Special Award given to an alpaca over three years of age whose fleece best exemplifies the lasting qualities important to the fiber industry. His fineness score in this competition was 20/20. As a Two Year Old in the age “C” category, Humvee II won the Light Male Champion Fleece in the 2012 AOBA National Fleece Show. His fleece scores were: Fineness and handle 20/20 Uniformity of micron 7/8 Length 7/7 Color 5/5 Crimp style 9/10 Staple type/density 4.5/5 Brightness 9/10 Absence of guard hair 9/10 Impurities/stain damage 5/5 Clean annualized weight 16/20 TOTAL POINTS 91.5/100 UNIFORM, CONSISTENT, AND FINE in fleece quality and FAULTLESS in conformation…
